Governor’s Energy Office plans Steamboat workshop

The Governor’s Energy Office is doing a workshop in Steamboat Springs to promote high-performance, energy-efficient green building. Representatives of the office will be at the Steamboat Springs Community Center on Thursday. A tour is from noon to 1 p.m., and a workshop is from 1 to 5 p.m. The workshop will provide an overview of the High Performance Building Program, demonstrate how integrated design brings all stakeholders to the planning table, offer strategies to maximize energy efficiency, feature examples and success stories from Northwest Colorado, identify funding opportunities and strengthen the networking community.

According to a news release, those who should attend are planners, funders, designers, builders, and operations and maintenance managers responsible for public building projects. Pre-registration is required. Visit http://rechargecolorado.com.

Youth football program registration under way

The city of Steamboat Springs Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services is accepting registrations for the youth football program on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is for children in third through sixth grade and will run from mid-August through mid-October. Children entering third and fourth grade play flag, and those in fifth and sixth grade play tackle. The flag program has a $65 registration fee, and tackle is $100. Aging Well hosts Healthier Living Colorado workshop

Aging Well, a program of the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, is hosting a Healthier Living Colorado Workshop, co-sponsored by Dr. Roseanne Iversen and the Consortium for Older Adult Wellness. Healthier Living Colorado is a six-week workshop designed to help participants manage chronic conditions to live a better life. Participants learn strategies to help manage stress and emotions, communicate more effectively and improve nutrition and physical habits.

The class starts Aug. 17 and will run for six weeks from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Meet at Dr. Iversen’s office, 801 Anglers Drive. The cost for class is a $20 co-pay. Register by calling Aging Well at 871-7676.
