Soroco girls win again

Joel Reichenberger

The Soroco High School girls team is one win away from a second-consecutive championship in the Western Slope Gore league after a lopsided victory at home Friday against DeBeque.

The Rams won, 78-26, to improve to 14-2 on the season.

“Of course we have a lot to learn, but I’m pretty pleased with the mental aspect of where we’re at,” coach David Bruner said. “We still have work to do.”

The team was led Friday by senior Briana Peterson, who scored 30 points. DaKota Bruner had 10.

Soroco is now 8-1 in the league with two games to go. First up is a trip Saturday to North Park, 5-6 on the season and 4-3 in the league. The Rams won handily in their first meeting in Oak Creek, 80-36.

The Rams then close out their league schedule next week at home against Hayden.
