Trailhead vandalism repairs completed
Steamboat Springs — Work has been completed to repair vandalism at the new trailhead parking area on the back of Emerald Mountain.
Between $80,000 and $100,000 worth of damage was discovered Sept. 10. The new bathroom had to be replaced. Charles Enger and Michael Jones have pleaded guilty to criminal mischief and will be responsible for paying for the damage.
The trailhead project is a partnership between the city of Steamboat Springs and the Bureau of Land Management and was funded, in part, by lodging tax dollars voters approved to spend on local trail improvements.
