Joan A. Look of the Elk River Valley died Oct. 9 at Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs. She was 60.
Joan was born Oct. 12, 1939, to James M. “Bud” and Lila Bernice (Eaton) Huffman in Scott City, Kan. She married Dean H. Look on July 26, 1957, in Yampa.
When Joan was 5, her family moved from Kansas to Colorado Springs to operate a dairy farm. They moved to a ranch in Toponas in 1951, and she graduated from Yampa Union High School in 1957. Joan and Dean and their family have lived on the ranch Dean’s grandfather homesteaded in 1901.
Joan enjoyed team penning, softball, bowling, hunting, fishing and camping. However her horses were her biggest enjoyment. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook.
She is survived by her husband, Dean; two daughters, Tina Look of Steamboat Springs and Tara Sanders of Eaton; two sons, Wade Look and Del Look of Steamboat Springs; eight grandchildren, Angela, Justin, Jordan, Justin, Kalee, Lexy, Allee and Kady; two sisters; Jean Northrop of Yampa and Geneva Taylor of Steamboat Springs; two brothers, Donald Huffman of Jetty Fishery, Ore., and Darrell Huffman of Clifton.
A funeral service was held Oct. 12 at Euzoa Bible Church in Steamboat Springs. The Rev. Robert Printy officiated. Interment was at Hahn’s Peak Cemetery.
Musicians were Maureen Hogue, Tyke Pierce, Yvette Look, Vicky Bushner, and Brianna, Dakin, and Julie Simillion. Pallbearers were Donald Markley, Dave Papini, Orville and Chad Bedell, Bill Dines and Delbert Sherrod. Peterson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
